A) Whatever else she may or may not have done, Meghan has not broken the law. (Only a week or so ago, a Court in the UK upheld her claim against the newspaper that published a letter she wrote to her estranged father.... but I don't know if the hearing established who gave a copy of it to the paper in the first place. A rum do, that one.)
B) The Sovereign of the United Kingdom does not have judiciary powers,
C) I don't know if the legal phrase "detained at Her Majesty's Pleasure" (= indefinite) is still applicable, but such a sentence would be given by a Crown Court judge after a full trial.

D) The Tower of London ceased to be used as a prison a very long time ago! It is now its own museum.
