Why do people expect everyone to be able to take on big roles at jobs?

Or owning your own business.

Personally, I know I don’t have the intelligence or ability to run a business or even being a manager. I’m tired of people acting like that’s a sign of success or what makes you worthy of a good pay.

Why is it unacceptable to be a normal employee?

We all can’t be fit for leadership. Average people matter too.

I was told to run for leadership recently due to my annoyance with my union.

I would run that union like 1970’s Cambodia. I will excommunicate people for asking too many questions. It’s best for everyone to not let me in a position of power.

They don't always expect you to. But it is important that they say such things in order to further the narrative that anyone can make it if they try hard enough because it validates their own belief that they deserve more money than others do.
