Do you think The Karate Kid would've turned out differently if Daniel had a crush on another girl besides Ali?

Would he have likely still gotten himself in a situation where he had to learn karate?

Probably, he really seemed like he could not get away from those bullies.

Yeah, I think it would have been a totally different story if he had a crush on a different girl. I think it took him going after Johnny's girl to make Johnny go full on nuclear on him, which is what necessitated him learning karate.
