Computer repair help

My desktop computer just died and I have a lot of stuff that I need off of it. I'm afraid to take it in for repair or at least to retrieve my data. The problem is, it's not just my important files but I also have a lot of pictures and videos I would not want anyone to see.

Do I dare to take it to a repair shop? Will they see my files?

My guess is that they won't look at your files. I recently had my laptop die on me, something with the hard drive. Thankfully I was able to use HP's recovery feature to transfer my videos, pics, etc onto a flash drive.

These people have better things to do than look at customer files.

@silkydrawers they will most likely just clone the drive if it still works. If it doesn't it will go to a data recovery firm that also won't be looking at it since they will work on it on a physical level.

@silkydrawers but better than having to fuss with getting them transferred!
