Why do parents cuss at their kids when they’re mad?

Why do people always think kids did something for them to cuss. People always take the parents side. My dad cussed at me because I refused to wear the ugly dress my aunt gave me when I was 14. I just stormed off into my room and put on the dress. Yes I did what my dad said because he was pissed. Parents always scream at their kids to get what they want.
