We were a couch and tv family too... I get anxious at eating at tables now because what the fuck am I suppose to say ?
PrincessOfQuilts · 36-40, F
@CestManan Depends on the family. Mine used the couch and TV to ignore each other and never talk
CestManan · 46-50, F
@PrincessOfQuilts Was it in a spiteful way? I mean families that have dinner that way do not typically mean any malice.
PrincessOfQuilts · 36-40, F
@CestManan It was spiteful, it's how my parents fought, they could go days without talking when they were mad at each other, my brother and got the silent treatment too just as a side effect

CestManan · 46-50, F
When I was a kid we did more often than not. It kind of sucked cause that was when our parents would bitch about things. My sister and I didn't call it "supper", we called it "suffer".

Now today with me and my room mate -

We have a rather nice dinner table in this house. It gets used for dumping stuff and also when I am trying to fix things, it makes a great work bench.

She has a TV tray and eats in her room, I eat while in front of my laptop and reading SW.

Same when i got to eat it was wherever was safe and as fast as i could .
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
We did but oftentimes not together as a family. Anyone ate whenever they were hungry. The only time when we truly dine at the dinner table with a sort of a ceremony is Christmas.
We ate the table after we held hands and prayed and then read a chapter of the bible

Im not even joking

@SStarfish that sounds creepy no offense
CestManan · 46-50, F
@SStarfish I just imagine someone is reading and someone blurts out, "Hurry up, God damnit! Our food is getting cold!"
Allelse · 36-40, M
That would have been great!!! At least then the TV would have distracted Mum and Dad from screaming at each other.

@SW-User yes
CestManan · 46-50, F
@SW-User Kind of rude to insult our intelligence like that. Pfft, I know what they are.

The two on the left are gardening tools, the longest one is a letter opener, and the one on the right is a scraper.

When I was very young, we used to eat at the table all the time. Gradually that became less and less frequent until now that only happens occasionally.
