Do you put out birdseed for the birds in fall/winter?

We feed birds in our garden not only in the winter but also in the summer. It is our impression that they need this help even more when they are busy feeding the fledglings.
We also leave some fruit and berries on trees and bushes for the birds.
We have many different birds nesting in our garden - mostly blackbirds and in bird boxes titmouses and sparrows but in the winter we see many other kinds of birds that are easier to spot after leaf fall and when they come to the bird table.
We also usually have lots of squirrels and they are fun to watch but it is annoying when they steal all the hazel nuts already before they are ripe. Fortunately they seem to like the hazel nuts best so they do not start plundering the walnut trees as long as there are hazelnuts to steal.

Put pea, hazel, & something out for the SQUIRLLES.... fuckin' blue jays swoop in and steal 'em.....

i am a Birdie too. i have a little bird sanctuary. it has a variety of bird feeders for a variety of birds. sometimes i get falcons. that is always a problem. and the occasional deer so i put up fencing. it is tough being a birdie and yes, i do put out seed in the winter.

I feed my birds, deer. Squirrels and chipmunks tear round. Also my skunks and woodchucks :)
Love them all!

I give them my stale multi seeded bread and it's gone within a couple of minutes.
