How do you feel about living in a cashless society?

The Federal Reserve came out today to say that new cash will not be given out at banks, for Christmas. First the coinage shortage and now the paper money. Tracking and control? All this BS, needs to stop and now but so many do not understand or care.

It is concerning, makes me wonder if I should invest in cryptocurrency and use that instead of cash. I don't know anything about it though.

@SatanBurger A good rule with money. If you dont understand it completely, stay the hell away.. In this world ANY currency is only worth what we all agree it is worth. Nothing is backed by Gold any more. But at least with legitimate government script you can have the backing of s country. ALL crypto currencies are Monopoly Money.😷
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@whowasthatmaskedman That's a good way to look at it, I just wonder if we'll all eventually go to something like that once money is worthless, it seems like it's getting that way.

@whowasthatmaskedman That’s good advice.

@SatanBurger Start reading up. The way that it’s going will eventually be crypto but maybe we can fight it off. I do not want to see cash go away. There is no positive outcome for us.😊

@SatanBurger Money is not actually worthless... But only because we all agree it isnt. Equally it only has value because we all agree it does. Back in the days of gold we had a common scale to measure against. In this electronic age, some bright spark decided money was a commodity that could be "created" like a sack of wheat. But they forgot you have to grow and harvest the wheat.
If you want to create the next step in reality you need a single Currency world wide. Maybe the Euro is the first attempt. And maybe that means a world Government. The Jury seems to be still out on that one.😷
Oster1 · M
@whowasthatmaskedman I agree but in my opinion, absolutely no one world Government currency.. The Euro was a prelude and experiment but failed because stronger economies suffered because of the weaker ones. It was sold to the masses as a convenience but became a tool for control. Brexit is an example of the dissatisfaction. Sovereignty is more assured under a domestic

currency. The only thing really saving the US dollar now is the requirement that OPEC purchases are made in dollars but even that is starting to change. That deal was made by Nixon when we came off the gold standard, leading to fiat money. It has hurt us greatly ever since.

@Oster1 I totally agree with you. Economics is one of those slippery subjects where a theory is great in the classroom. But the moment you get people involved it goes to $h*t. The Gold standard was a shining moment of unity because it limited the power of men. You had it or you didnt. If you didnt you couldnt buy it.
Looking at the nature of man its possible the next unit will be fresh water, or maybe toilet paper.😷
Oster1 · M
@whowasthatmaskedman Hahahahahaha! Fresh water may ultimately become the currency. There has been theories for years, that could happen.😊

Some less than sophisticated investors tried to corner the TP market at the start of Covid shortages, only to have enough, for a life time!😂🤣😁
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Oster1 I guess that puts Toilet paper in the Crypto-currency bin then. I suspect the $US has been a defacto currency of trade for the world since WW2 and that gave the US a belief it was a real item. But incontrolled printing has broken that spell. To see proof you only need to look at the stock prices on Wall St. Does anyone really believe that the values have doubled and redoubled in a declining economy? Its just a numbers game everyone is playing because there isnt a better alternative,😷
Oster1 · M
@whowasthatmaskedman HaHa. Yes the Dollar has lost 98 cents of value, since the 1930’s. Stock prices are artificially stimulated from constant investment from the Federal Reserve, using tax Dollars, in hopes of keeping the present Dollar value and ‘try’ to ward off inflation. You are correct. It most definitely has become a financial bubble that cannot be sustained. Eventually. the piper will have to be paid. Another pitfall is the field of Derivatives trading that exceeds the national debt by ten fold or even more. It’s very difficult to ascertain the amount.
Oster1 · M
@whowasthatmaskedman I could write chapters on this subject.😊
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Oster1 What is actually going to happen to the $US is uncertain. It was overcomplex before the Covid thing threw a spanner into the worlds works, and believe it or not Trump plays an amazingly small role. (Not for the better)
But the one certain game changer is that America is no longer in charge of its own financial destiny.. That will be decided by others. I sold off all the $US I bought back with me to a cash exchange months ago. Its not a fortune.. But why keep the paper and watch it shrink?😷
Oster1 · M
@whowasthatmaskedman I understand. The matrix is always changing.

I don’t quite understand “ I sold off all the $US I bought back with me to a cash exchange months ago” Could you please explain so I am better able to comment. Thanks.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Oster1 A few years ago I spend time in the US and came back with a wallet pull of cash. Several hundred $. I didnt bother changing it, thinking I would go back sometime.. Needless to say that wont be happening now. All I kept were the singles and of course they didnt want coins.😷
Oster1 · M
@whowasthatmaskedman Thanks wasn’t sure whether it was in stocks or currency. Yeah, I would agree with that exchange.

It is hard to predict the future economy, that is true. There are outside forces at work. I agree. Trump did play a major role and one that was very positive until Covid came along. His trade deals was monumental in boosting the economy. The tariff deals to boost trade deficits. Promoting Global Corporations to return home and refit factories and put people back to work in industrial areas of the country that have went down for years, and to stop other countries from dumping product here at a loss, because of State owned cos. He got us out of trade deals that were not equitable with us.

There really was a lot that he did that past administrations couldn’t and told him, he couldn’t. This is just true and the media and opposition has people believing other wise. There is so much more that I could write.

America is not standing solid in its financial destiny. This does appear this way. Ahhhh but what the world forgets is the drive and determination of the American Spirit!!! We can overcome this situation and the first thing to do is go back to a silver and gold standard and get away from the Federal Reserve Note, that has major international influence and constraints. It’s the biggest scam that continually keeps many poor or a best, at the same level of earnings for many decades. Fiat money causes inflation that keeps personal wealth at a low growth rate. It is way more complicated as you know.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Oster1 You had me until the last Paragraph. The truth is empires rise and fall and are replaced. America is no exception. The very things that caused the rise of that nation will be the things that replace it with someone who does it better.. America will not disappear. But it will be the next France or Britain..😷
Oster1 · M
@whowasthatmaskedman I do respect your opinion. History has shown such but I was not trying to be arrogant or elitist in my thinking. I really wasn’t. For me personally, I have to believe in this. It’s the way I have been raised and groomed. I have spent my whole career doing so with immense responsibility for others. I hope you can try to understand my position. I do belive in the greatness of America. Vast mistakes have been made but I assure you the citizens didn’t want things to be this way. No countries citizens want this. We want to live our life free and what is best for our families and loved ones, no matter what that family consists of.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Oster1 Then I hope a start is made come November 3.😷
Oster1 · M
@whowasthatmaskedman Hahahaha, Yes, I do too!😁 It’s been a pleasure discussing things with you and @SatanBurger. I really enjoyed this.
