It usually means someone who is very smug about how well they follow the rules. It’s weird how the meaning changed. In the original story, it was about a poor girl who didn’t have shoes until someone gave her a pair as an act of charity. She was so happy, she went around showing everyone her new shoes. “Goody” was just an older term for a female, short for “goodwife.” So people started calling her Goody Two Shoes.” Today, the term is considered an insult.

@LeopoldBloom Oh interesting. Also why is it considered an insult? So my friends insulted me?? What’s wrong with following the rules and being good?

@LaylaTheTallGirl I agree, there's nothing wrong with following the rules and being a good person. But a "goody two shoes" is really smug and arrogant about it.
Although, it's also possible that you're acting perfectly normally, and your friends are a bunch of criminals. For example, if they're all sitting around getting stoned and you're not, they could call you a "goody two shoes" when you're not doing anything wrong. I'm assuming weed is illegal where you are.

Not the worst thing that you can be called, but I suppose not the best either. It usually refers to some who is good all the time and doesn’t cause trouble 👍
