Why do adults wait until we’re older to tell us the brutally honest truth? Why didn’t they tell us when we were younger.

Wow people get shocked and hurt by the brutal reality. You don’t now how many times I’ve been shocked about the hard truth and people made me cry with the truth and don’t apologize. Man people are so mean! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Adults really don’t have filter and tell the straight facts too older kids and teenagers.
My dad said, “We just said that to make you feel better! You are not five years old anymore and life isn’t always that pretty as you though at that age. You’re almost 18 so you should be hearing stuff about this. People will not sugarcoat it for you. You’re a young adult now. You should be hearing the hard truth. Get used to it! They really shouldn’t sugarcoat it to kids.
My dad didn’t have to sound so rude about it.
He’s brutally honest sometimes. So are my half siblings (they’re 37 and 33) and they tell me the truth that makes me uncomfortable. My sister said, “Face the facts kiddo, you’re going to feel uncomfortable once in a while.”

I feel it is to a way of keeping the younger children from worrying about all those things that they don't need to at that age. It would also serve to allow them to enjoy life at that point.

@rjc36 Oh. So as we get to middle school/high school they tell us then and we can’t live life anymore? No wonder older kids and teens are miserable. So we can’t enjoy life anymore? I’m not as happy as I used to be like when I was five. I’m more depressed and worried now. 😭😭😭😭

Well we also have to look more at it as being happy with the good things we have in life. Even if we have issues that pose problems in our lives we can always find something that is enjoyable even if it is just the little things. Don't be sad or worried there is still good things in life. 👍@LaylaTheTallGirl

@LaylaTheTallGirl I was just trying to make you laugh, sorry. Yeah people can be callous. And there's way's of saying things that may be difficult but respectful and more sensitive. Your feelings matter of course.
