Do you believe in self diagnosis of a mental illness? And explain why or why not?

If you're truly mentally ill, you're not going to see your problems in the same way as someone trained in that area. However, I believe in false diagnoses and that some doctors are too quick to label and medicate. I've been abused in my life, sometimes severely, but I've overcome and triumphed by creating techniques that work for me. I'm not medicated or undergoing counseling. I've recognized what I need to stay healthy and I am proactive in helping myself.
