What do you think about this controversial meme and what part of the world are you from?

My opinion: We should really end circumcision, there is no need for it.
I would have answered this differently when I was younger, because I grew up in America and accepted circumcision as normal. Now that I live in Europe and my hubby is European, my opinions have changed greatly. I see circumcision as barbaric and abnormal.

I am completely against the barbarism and commercialism guised as health ,that mutilates an infant for profit.

I am against it and I am in the USA. I don't think it's medically necessary and it can lesson a mans feeling down there.
[c=#BF0080]I've never even seen a uncircumcised one in my real life.. or even know anyone who isn't. My son is too.[/c]

I never did too. I thought they would be strange and disgusting because I grew up with that mindset being American....I was wrong.

That true? I'll have to check that out. I just figure a boy ought to have the option seeing as how it's his own body.
NineLives · 41-45, F
That is right! A boy should have the option, yet he never gets that. His parents decide for him.
Yet the same people are outraged at female genital mutilation in places like Africa. Hmmm, it doesn't make sense.

I'm in Australia but my ethnicity is closer to Indian

It's unnecessary. People say it is cleaner, but it's really not that hard to wash yourself down there

Lol. 117 die from it since 2011 not 1 in 11,100. So yeah it is controversial because it's complete crap.
SW-User
so you believe every meme you see on the internet?
NineLives · 41-45, F
@hyg346: No, I don't. I'm going now because like I told you, I will not debate with someone who manipulates something to look "right".
That would be the definition of insanity.
SW-User
yeah I manipulated my statement of "Lol. 117 die not 1 in 11,100. So yeah it is controversial because it's complete crap." to:
"Lol. 117 die from it since 2011 not 1 in 11,100. So yeah it is controversial because it's complete crap."
my statement is still exactly the same except I added the part of 'from it since 2011.' wow. what I'm telling you is still the same. your meme claiming 1 in 11,100 kids die each year is wrong.

Yeah...cutting on infants without medical necessity....people love doing it.
xmedleft · 51-55, M
I thing there latter figure is inflated -- while there is a danger, as there is with EVERY medical procedure, I think I had seen something a bit more like 1/1.1 million.
NineLives · 41-45, F
Even if the figure is down right lying and not even close to the truth, even ONE boy dying of what is an unnecessary forced procedure is WAY too much.
I don't see how we can live in a society where tattooing and piercing your baby is ILLEGAL and seen as inhumane, yet we can rip their little foreskins off?

It's biblical, and I've been told again and again it's the healthier choice.

@redmaple: What gets me is how you're going to catch heat for it either way, and it was never a choice.
