What's the best shampoo to strengthen hair?

I have fine hair and have been growing it out for some time. It's just past my shoulders but I want it longer. It keeps breaking. I have to keep it tied up for work since I cook. No one wants to find hair in their food if it isn't theirs. Please help!

@TGray42: thanks hun. I have a bad habit of that. I have been washing my hair every time I shower but I think I will do it every other day or as often as needed.

My hair is long. I don't wash it every day. When I do I use conditioner, I air dry--blotting with towel first and then put Moroccan oil in it.
