Why do I have so many mood swings when i'm having my period?

I mean to be fair..I experience frequent mood swings outside my cycle but its ELEVATED around that time

iwontlast obviously not being female i cannot tell why you get the mood swings but it is not unique i think most woman encounter the same at there time of the month
