Yes only one time was scary-landing in storms and on time islands with mountains at the end of short runways. I've been on helicopters more and never nervous. The best pilots in the world were in the Marines. 1970-73. When they get up some speed and do a hard turn and you're looking at the ground through the window of the guy across from you were faced inboard. CH-53 Sea Stallion. It's bigger than the Chinook CH-47 with the two blades on top.

Not since I was an infant, so I do not remember, but I have been up in a helicopter identical to the ones you see on the old TV show "M*A*S*H*, with the bubble-style cockpit.
