I mean you see them in movies and tv shows but they can't be for real can they?

Sure they do, but the stereotypes are best an incomplete picture and at worst insultingly wrong.

Kind of. In my town there were people called Sand Hillbillies. They lived way out and only came to town once a fortnight. Nice people but barmy. The patriarch of the family is 95 years old. Still works wrangling sheep.
...I think you're on to something. I don't think I've ever seen a hillbilly in real life. only on the TV.

@Colddeadhands I've seen country redneck types when I would go up north but never any overalls and duck dynasty beard yeehaw types.

I saw this documentary about them once called Wrong Turn... apparently they drank radioactive water and became super villains.
