I think that more people live longer in the US, and corona seems to be very bad for the elderly. It has a target rich environment in the US because we have a large number of elderly. And maybe we have a little less respect for authority in the urban areas. Close proximity, not following the guidelines set forth.

The rate for NY includes all of the state and most of the deaths are people over 65

Well then numbers aren't 100% accurate if I'm correct. Also, China has a lot of the blame here.
