It is a really odd one for usa. You have not had a full lockdown like in the uk. You could simplify it and say it is about whether we take care of our elderly or making money.... and I do wonder if this was an illness that affected our children the same ways as our senior citizens would we not work harder to protect life.
But, I do also see the problems that usa have in lack of the social support that means many people will hit poverty, the implications of this will be much harder to recover from than losing a few hundred thousand of the weaker elements of our community. (And before anyone attacks me for this I am just presenting the argument it is not my sentiment).
Personally I believe we don't know how this will pan out. We already know this virus has the ability to mutate and there are currently 3 strands. If we continue to let it spread who knows how many more strands we will.end up and how much more deadly it will become. A vaccine is not yet available and it will be some months before it will be.
I have no issue with being at home, what is a few months of my life to keep our elderly and vulnerable safe.
