Here is a thought, why don't we instead quarantine the elderly and those most prone to die from the virus instead?

and we team up to provide them with their necessary needs to survive?

Instead of quarantining the whole world and causing major economic impacts why not quarantine those most voulnerable.

Whilst the elderly should undoubtedly be looked after it’s not a virus solely restricted to them and therefore one has to cover for that

@MissTaken Yes, you are correct that bugs such as colds and flu are seasonal but we have some prior exposure to various colds and strains of flu. There are medications available lessen the severity of flu. We have a vaccine for flu and each year we work hard to tweak the vaccine in order to be most effective towards whichever strains are predicted to be circulating that year. We vaccinate healthworkers and the most vulnerable. With COVID19 we have none of that. COVID19 also kills a greater percentage of vulnerable populations than the flu does. We expect to be better prepared for this virus within 12-18 months.
