Anyone who has known an immunologist - I've worked with a few - knows that they've been waiting for one like this for decades. It's not surprising, and any government poorly prepared (like Australia - airports didn't screen people at all; or USA - Obama set up a group to prepare and Trump dismantled them and set up a space force instead) hasn't done their duty.

Conspiracy theories - my observation is that people who feel powerless in their life are more likely to turn to these. Yes, it's a generalisation and not based on any research - just a personal conjecture.

Much like Epstein, a few too many details aren't adding up. Don't get me wrong, most of the conspiracies are ridiculous, but being lab-developed is at least rational given "ground zero" and the labs nearby.

But real talk, the very nature of the CV made it VERY hard to protect and quarantine. You are right in that Not only is NO ONE prepared for this outcome but also nothing really could have been done to prevent it.

The facts are
that the virus originated in China,
It has a big incubation period which IS ALSO infectious.
It took lives
hospitalized others,
left most just ill
and it spread across the globe.

because aliens and lizard people are having babies with humans and injecting viruses in the process. and we live in a matrix and it's glitching. and i accidentally pressed the reset button 12000 years ago which resulted in a big oop- moment for our dearest green, flat earth.
so...apologies for that.

The interesting thing about all these conspiracy theories is that every now and then one of them turns out to be right.

Very plausable & entirely possible...but you never know for sure.
