Media marketing insanity is being taken to a whole new level.

Following recent incidents where the German clothing company Hugo Boss

(suppose i ought to say *registered trade mark* in the hope they don't try and sue ME for even mentioning it !)

Has sued ANY company either using the word 'Boss' or adding it to their advertising blurb as a supposed 'breach of copyright', the British comedian Joe Lycett has today, officially changed his name to the same 'Hugo Boss' by way of demonstration.

The Hugo Boss company has been sending 'cease and desist' letters to ANYONE using the word 'Boss' and suing even charities that have used it !

Good night...you can't trademark a common word like boss.
Have they sued Bruce Springsteen yet?

@SmartKat Lycett has something of a 'reputation' for going after 'con-artists' masquerading as 'businesses'.
That alone makes this interesting.
But if he decides to publicly trash them via his shows, that could be very interesting !

Have they yet to win any of the suits they have filed or is this something they just began doing?

Is the word boss copyrighted or is the phrase "Hugo Boss" the actual copyright? This matters. I suspect they could not have Boss copyrighted alone because it is a general word. If that is the case, every suit filed will be tossed out.
