I figure that would depend a lot on which meaning of "badass" one is thinking of, when using the word.
My brother chose to buy a Prius, long before many other people did...when they weren't even so readily available. He was quite "badass" many ways, as in the good connotation of the term.

@Piper "Badass" is two words run together ("bad" and "ass") so it either means bad bottom or bad donkey. I think the donkey meaning is unlikely in most contexts so that leaves "bad bottom".
