I thought I would be married with kids, own a house, and be settled into my career.

I hoped I'd be an award winning, best-selling author, who was fit and great looking.

I am not married, no kids, just a rental, somewhat settled in my career, not a best-settling author, not award-winning, but a finalist, at least, and I'm 25 lbs heavier than I should be.

Well you're still doing what you set out to be though, instead of taking a "easy" and well paid job you kept up the battle to be an author. :)
