Is trying to eat 1000 calories a day a good idea?

Only if you have less than 14 lbs to lose, and only short-term. I ate 1000 calories for years, with a few days going to about 1400-1500. It kept my weight stable. Now, I’d be starving, and couldn’t do it, but I also lift weights and do cardio. It depends on your activity level.

Start with 1500. It may be a bit slower, but you can sustain it better. Adjust as needed. @MizzBella
