How can I be assured I’ll get paid?

I do Rover- a dog sitting service. I recently boarded a dog through the app. The money goes to my PayPal after a few days after the service is done. The owner asked for my personal number and wants to set another week of boarding in a couple of weeks. But she doesn’t want to do it through Rover because a percebes he of the money doesn’t go to me but Rover. Should I ask for half the fee on the first day and the other half when she is picking up her dog? Or is that rude?

Insist you go through Rover. I imagine there's insurance and security and such. You'll also have a receipt, and proof of appointment.

If he thinks you deserve more, he can pay you more.

Once he becomes a regular [say 5 times] and you feel you can trust him then go outside of Rover only if YOU are comfortable.

Hold firm on this even if it means losing his business. Its fishy.

If it's not already to late I'd suggest you suddenly invent a "Policy" of only ever making private arrangements after (say) three successful Rover appointments. That way she has an end in sight and you get more time to assess her sense of responsibility.

Go through the correct channels & that way you know you’ll be paid. If, after you get to know the lady better & the doggy boarding becomes a regular service, then perhaps you can set up a more casual payment arrangement between you, to cut out the middle man (Rover). Until then, if you don’t follow the rules you risk being scammed.

@Carla The contract with Rover has set terms & guarantee of payment. Alternatively, with a loose, casual arrangement which is being suggested by the lady, the boarder will have no way to enforce the payment terms & no legal leverage to get his money. So no - in answer to your question, there is NO agreement.

@Carla You’re a fool - as I’ve already stated, the guy is not entitled to keep the woman’s dog if she refuses to pay him - END OF!
