Maybe she got a boyfriend or a girlfriend and wants to spend time with them? She going to College?

Tell her to pick a night and you will take her out to eat. Doesn’t have to be exact day

Definitely get her a gift of some kind. And plan a special meal at home. Maybe not on her actual birthday, but before or after. These things do mean a lot, but on the actual day is sometimes too much.

@dumpstermeow got her what she asked for.Think she's overwhelmed getting older and doesn't want to celebrate.Im not going to force things or get cake when she seems irked by it atm.

honor your daughters feelings...don’t overstep...but just do something special, maybe her favorite meal without the fanfare of “its for your birthday”
Butterflykisses24 · 51-55, F
Ugh. She’s probably exhausted and just want to enjoy her “special” day doing absolutely nothing. It’ll probably be a treat for her. At least, it would be for me. Lol, I can’t say for her honestly, because idk her and sometimes people say stuff they don’t really mean. I’d still get her a present and acknowledge it’s her birthday.

@Stark Yes her problem too.Shes behind in school.Its taken her longer.She has a learning disability.She has trouble making friends.She is kinda hard on herself.
@Butterflykisses24 I can relate to that so much
Butterflykisses24 · 51-55, F
@Stark thank you for your input

What you did sounds perfect. It can be a little sad when they get older and lose some of the excitement. I think you handled it well.

Sometimes they just feel down and overwhelmed and don't feel like they deserve something on the day, you can still make it a special day even if it's just you and her that go somewhere and do something together
Butterflykisses24 · 51-55, F
@Bushmanoz She expressed she doesn't like getting older.I think cause she's behind in things.No pressure my end but she has internal pressure.
Bushmanoz · 56-60, M
@Butterflykisses24 yeah, my sons the same. I just ask him whats he going to remember in a few years..another day doing work, or a special day out with his mates. It really sounds to me shes just really overwhelmed with even having to decide, like it;s just one more thing she doesnt want to have to deal with. Id say dont ask, just organise something, remember its about you too, you had her all those years ago and its just as important for you..maybe tell her that as you drag her out for a no pressure relaxing night
Butterflykisses24 · 51-55, F
@Bushmanoz ok will try.
