My Letter to the Editor was published today
[b]Country Less Lucky[/b]
Why do we continue to call ourselves the Lucky Country?
We have three million people living below the poverty line.
Our homeless rate is 50 people per 10,000 citizens.
The US is 17 per 10,000.
We have aged Care Facilities that continue to abuse our elderly.
We have banks that for decades have ripped off customers making upwards of $100 billion in profits over the preceding decade.
No one has been held accountable with a prison term.
We have a true unemployment rate above 10%. The Government lies in relation to this. They claim a person working one hour a week is fully employed.
Our Churches have abused Children for many decades.
We continue to destroy our habitat placing our native fauna on the brink of extinction.
We continue to bring in immigrants when our water is running out.
We have a Government that simply does not care.
Lucky? I don't think so.
