What do you usually wish people when you tell them happy birthday?

I generally wish them joy in their lives. I know I'm not that original.

I go with the German typically. It stuck with me when I was in class back in the day. xD

It's "Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Geburtstag", which basically means "Heartfelt good wishes to the birthday" xD
