If a family member that you really hated passed away,

and the hate was likewise, would you find it more disrespectful of you to show up to their funeral or NOT show up?
I think it is more disrespectful to show up and act like you cared. The fact that they died doesn't change the situation.

My father died a year and a half ago. My sister was shocked that I wouldn't travel a thousand miles for his funeral. I wouldn't even walk across the street for it. The most horrible human being I have ever known!

I didn't go, I went to the beach the day of their viewing and went to work the day they buried him, That person was my father

I wouldn't go, seems rather senseless.
I didn't go to either of my grandparents funerals. It had nothing to do with respect. I just didn't want to deal with the people that would be there and the drama that was sure to develop.

Smart move 👍
You can always mourn and say good bye in your own way anyway! Or so I believe.

Hmmmm I mean yeah I hated them but I'm not gonna lie, as long as they're one of my family members I'm sure that deep down I liked them enough to show up to their funeral....if that makes sense
I'd show up just to support other family members.

that's an interesting question I don't really like my father would I be sad if he died I guess but its weird you put more value on someone you like dying on someone you don't like dying
