I'm reflecting on the people in my life who I've had to let go of.

For many and varied reasons but primarily because they were toxic and slowly poisoning me.
There was one friend in particular and I still think of her even when I don't want to.
She stole meds, jewelry and money from me and to top it off left a syringe in my parent's bathroom when we were both staying there. Luckily I found it first.
I wrote her a lengthy letter explaining why we could no longer be friends and she accused me of ruining her life.
Have you had to eject someone or some people from your life for your own wellbeing?

A lot of them, it's a hard thing to do. I want to believe in people. I also want to be a kind person and can't let other's poison infect me or I may end up like them.

@curiosi I dearly want to give people the benefit of the doubt and trust with impunity. But that way lies hurt and disappointment.

@Cavedweller The benefit of the doubt is a legal concept, for courtrooms and jury rooms, not for everyday social life. And second chances are for children because they are still learning how to behave well.
