Why shouldn't alcohol be banned?

If you think prohibitions create an underground black market and violent crime, shouldn't cocaine (or any other drugs) be legalized by your logic?

Not really because it’s by degrees. Cocaine, heroine, all were legal in the U.S. at one point. And like alcohol, they were banned. But with alcohol the ability to acquire or make it was easier to regulate and the damage it did to a majority of people seemed negligible (by comparison). Similar to why pot is legal in some states now.
