I used to, I found that by being over the top happy and really helpful used to do the job.
By job I mean completely piss them off 馃槤

@Alex78 I usually try to do this, but I recently had an incident where for some reason I became flustered and almost forgot that I just needed to remain calm and act friendly. I so wish I could have been over the top happy towards this particular customer, but oh well - apparently they're going to write a formal complaint. 馃檮馃槀

@maybesomeday in that case go see supervisor and and mention that you are feeling stressed out..... Work related stress. They usually run.

Nah don鈥檛 take it personally. If you can refer it to a supervisor that鈥檚 prob your best bet. Say something like, hm let me see if my supervisor has a better idea on how to make this better. If that鈥檚 not an option, maybe you can say let me take down your number and I鈥檒l have my supervisor call you about it. and if you have no supervisor who actually cares, then say, I鈥檓 sorry you feel upset/disappointed/ etc. how can i make this better? If it鈥檚 something you can do, great - do it. If it鈥檚 something you can鈥檛, then explain that it鈥檚 not possible, you wish it was, is there something else i can do?

Worse case scenario refer them to one of your competitors.

@DoubleRings Thank you.
Usually I follow through with all those options given the situation, but I just blanked today and I probably made them even more dissatisfied. I guess I can only learn from it and try not to take it too seriously.

I've been in customer service for 20 years, and I tell them if they don't change how they're speaking to me, then I cannot help them. Works every time.

I am the supervisor.

Yup...if they get too overbearing I call the supervisor in and let them take care of it.
SW-User
The louder they get, the slower you work and the more you inconvenience them. Let them give you an excuse to get management.
