Okay, so I know i can add more space onto my laptop, but hpw do I do that? Could I go to a computer shop and ask them to do it for me?

Simple explanations please 😅 I tried looking it up but it honestly just flew right over my head. The site started talking about these different types of drives and I just don't get itttttt.
I want more room on my laptop so I can play sims, have my school work and work information on there 😅😅

What's your laptop model? I'll find you a servicing manual if one is out there for it. Generally you'll need a screw driver, a new SSD, a SATA to USB cable, and some kind of disk imaging software. The hardest part is waiting for the data to transfer over to the new disk.

@SeductiveCactus Alright, so can you confirm that this is your laptop: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Acer-Swift-1-SF114-32-N5000-SSD-FHD-Laptop-Review.303606.0.html

If it is, then you'll want to get the following:

1) a new M.2 SSD, 500GB looks to be double what you have but you can go up to 2TB if you want to spend more than $90

https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-500GB-MZ-V7E500BW/dp/B07BN4NJ2J/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=m.2+500gb&qid=1566310001&s=gateway&sr=8-3

2) You need a screwdriver that can remove the plate on the bottom of the laptop. Look around on Amazon for cheap sets with varying sizes if you aren't sure what kind you need.

3) a USB adapter to plug in the new SSD to transfer data

https://www.amazon.com/SHINESTAR-Adapter-Portable-External-Support/dp/B0768V1SK7/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=m.2+to+usb&qid=1566310202&s=gateway&sr=8-5

4) Macrium Reflect free disk imaging software for Windows. Look up tutorials on how to clone disks with it. It's fairly straightforward.

The SSD (the part you're replacing) is located here in the red circle. Take out the screw at one and and it just lifts out.

@SeductiveCactus I forgot to mention a couple things. You do the disk cloning first before replacing anything. Then you swap the disk. Before you touch a single screw make sure the laptop is OFF. Like powered down from the start menu. Otherwise you'll end up damaging something.

@SW-User thank you thank you thank you. You're amazing! Hahaha.
It seems so complicated still, but I now know what I need to buy and I can probanly get someone who's done this before to do the actual ssd part for me 😂
Again thank you! 😁

So you need to replace the hard drive. What kind of laptop (make and model) do you have? Once that is known I or someone else can show you what to buy and how to do the swap.

@CountScrofula the model is Swift SF114-32. I have no idea what the make is.

How much space does your computer have?
SeductiveCactus · 26-30, F
@SW-User it says I have 4.98gb free of 57.1gb. So that much haha
