@BlueMetalChick The chinese government likes to seem modern, but they keep to their old ways pretty well. Dissent is bad, speaking out against the government is bad (worse before widespread internet access). Years ago a man in mainland china protested, even wore a shirt making it clear. He said that it wouldn't be long before he vanished, and he was right. The family went suspiciously quiet.
