That’s an insightful video if you connect all the dots Putin lays out here. He clearly ties sowing racial divisions in the US along with preserving the status quo in Russia as a strategy for elevating Russia via lowering the standing of the US in the world. His plan is working like a charm.

@SW-User Why do I detect a hint of paranoia in that comment?

SW-User
It’s not paranoia. It’s critical thinking and analysis after watching that video. I think you can glean a lot about Putin’s mindset and objectives by seeing how quickly he jumps from the topic of the shrinking white majority in the US to the topic of preserving and elevating Russia’s stature. It seems pretty clear that he sees a direct correlation between the two, which offers insight into his motives for interfering in our elections and weakening our democracy.

@SW-User "It’s critical thinking and analysis"
That's just a posh way of saying "paranoia".

@NankerPhelge there is nothing paranoid in recognizing motives. It is selective blindness that we should all pay attention to here in our own country. That also is not paranoid. It's reality.
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@Carla OK, Carla, you think what you like.

SW-User
I merely took the information in the video and threaded the entire conversation together to make an observation. If you conflate critical thinking with paranoia, that’s your problem. Are you of the opinion that the US intelligence community got it wrong and that there was no Russian interference? If so, I can see why the concept of critical thinking and analysis might be challenging.

@SW-User I said this to Carla and now I'll say it to you. You can think what you like, it doesn't matter to me. No need to keep harping on about it. I think this conversation has outstayed its welcome, it's getting rather tedious now.
Carla · 61-69, F
@NankerPhelge i base my opinions on the words and actions of those i listen to. They all tell you, you just have to listen and think.
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@Carla Whatever floats your boat, Carla. Whatever floats your boat.
Carla · 61-69, F
@NankerPhelge alright. My boat floats, so im good:]

SW-User
I think his entire point was to do a quick drive by to call me paranoid, and he expected that to be the end of it. The entire issue of Russian interference triggers cognitive dissonance in some people, including its primary beneficiary. @Carla
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@SW-User Speechless due to uncontrollable laughter induced by that comment.
Carla · 61-69, F
@SW-User i keep imagining what this all would look like if the tables were turned.
I know i would be apalled/alarmed regardless.

@NankerPhelge It’s not paranoia if it’s reality.

Since you have no factual counterpoint, enjoy your weekend. I think we’re done here. @NankerPhelge

@SW-User You're absolutely correct. Everything he says has purpose. He's the puppet master.

@SW-User !!!

I think it will eventually swing the other way, because Putin’s endgame appears to be destabilization more than promoting any single political party within the US. He just happened to pick Trump this time due to his susceptibility to flattery and manipulation. Russia could very easily take up the cause of a Democrat if they feel that the Democrat would do more to destabilize the democracy. The issue isn’t who the Russians chose; the issue is that Russia will continue to target our elections if left unchecked. @Carla
Carla · 61-69, F
@SW-User even with those checks, they will find the avenues. I think they certainly will chose a democrat in time. Perfect way to keep the drum agitating.

SW-User
When that happens, I’ll expect Democrats to still be opposed to it even if they benefit from it, and I’ll be extremely disappointed if they don’t. @Carla
Carla · 61-69, F
@SW-User yes, i would hope they would remember their own stances on the matter.
