Considering that the global CO2 level is the highest it's been in 3 million years, I'm very worried for the future of this species.

@BlueVeins why?
BlueVeins22-25
@MasterLee Because CO2 is known to chemically interact with ocean water and lower its pH, which can kill algea and coral. Also, CO2 is known to cause global temperatures to rise via the greenhouse effect, which can cause a myriad of problems.
MasterLee56-60, M
@BlueVeins and cyclically this happens over millions of years...
BlueVeins22-25
@MasterLee Well, it's happening in decades and centuries now, faster by orders of magnitude. The environment that resulted from the last time CO2 levels got this high was not an environment we'd want to switch to today.
MasterLee56-60, M
@BlueVeins maybe but not anthropomorphic causation
BlueVeins22-25
@MasterLee Well, that would be a fantastic coincidence, wouldn't it? The Industrial Revolution happens, the CO2 levels skyrocket within a few decades, and they're completely unrelated?
MasterLee56-60, M
@BlueVeins Not really. How much effect do volcanoes have?
