People will kill with or without a gun.

We banned Assault rifles and most Semi Automatics after the Port Arthur Massacre. There hasn't been a mass shooting like it since.
PTCdresser57 · 61-69, M
The is no use in society that condones having them. You cant hunt with them...all they are good for is target practice.
BizSuitStacy · M
@PTCdresser57 - honestly, rifles such as the AR-15 are excellent home defense firearms. And people do use them to hunt when configured in the proper caliber.
chrisCA · M
@BizSuitStacy Well. I am glad to live in a place where people don't feel the need to have an AR-15 for home defense.
Chevy454 · 46-50, M
Yes you can and people do @PTCdresser57
Easygoing1 · 61-69, M
If we would enforce the law's on the books we would have less problems.
Chevy454 · 46-50, M
They already are. You cannot own an automatic weapon without serious credentials. An AR-15 is just a rifle. I do own one.

If we fixed our abysmal mental health systems this wouldnt be such a awful issue.

@SW-User I'm saying the solution is multifaceted. It may require banning assault rifles.

Assault rifle: a rapid-fire, magazine-fed automatic rifle designed for infantry use
um, no - not rapid-fire. Select fire. An assault rifle is a light weight, mid caliber rifle with select fire capabilities. Select fire = capable of fully automatic fire and/or 3 round bursts. True assault rifles manufactured after May 1986 are banned from civilian ownership. Those manufactured prior to May 1986 are heavily regulated, require licensing from BATFE, intense background checks, registration - AND will set you back a minimum of $25K. Are you intentionally trying to mislead people?

Just seems more than a tad unnecessary
StevexStephie · 70-79
Yes!
BizSuitStacy · M
@StevexStephie - they're already banned if manufactured after 1986, and heavily regulated if manufactured prior. A Viet Nam era M-16 will set you back a minimum of $25K. Hardly anyone owns these things legally. Criminals, on the other hand...who knows how many they may have.
Ian123 · 61-69, M
There is nothing wrong with having an assault gun as long as you are sensible with it
BizSuitStacy · M
You own an assault rifle? A REAL assault rifle?? Bullshit.
