@PTCdresser57 - honestly, rifles such as the AR-15 are excellent home defense firearms. And people do use them to hunt when configured in the proper caliber.
@Sarin
Assault rifle: a rapid-fire, magazine-fed automatic rifle designed for infantry use
um, no - not rapid-fire. Select fire. An assault rifle is a light weight, mid caliber rifle with select fire capabilities. Select fire = capable of fully automatic fire and/or 3 round bursts. True assault rifles manufactured after May 1986 are banned from civilian ownership. Those manufactured prior to May 1986 are heavily regulated, require licensing from BATFE, intense background checks, registration - AND will set you back a minimum of $25K. Are you intentionally trying to mislead people?

If we fixed our abysmal mental health systems this wouldnt be such a awful issue.
@StevexStephie - they're already banned if manufactured after 1986, and heavily regulated if manufactured prior. A Viet Nam era M-16 will set you back a minimum of $25K. Hardly anyone owns these things legally. Criminals, on the other hand...who knows how many they may have.
