@JoyfulSilence How did you come to believe it?
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
@ItsJustMeAgain I think with me it is more an obsession.

I must do it right and 100%, and cannot accept half measures.

In school I sometimes would skip one homework assignment here and there because I had no time to give it 100%, and accept the zero, rather than give it a quick try just to get some points.

@JoyfulSilence It's no way to live, tho. Right?

@ItsJustMeAgain It means a lot does not get done, and what does get done takes me forever, but people like the results! Yet they wish I would hurry up and do more! People are so bitchy!

@JoyfulSilence I assume you are referring to your job? It's so hard to be a perfectionist. And I don't even like to use the term, bc I think people think it means "I think I'm perfect"--but, far from it. I wish I were someone entirely different...

@ItsJustMeAgain

I am a perfectionist about many things, yet I admit I am a slob about a lot of things, too.

I think perfectionists think they are inadequate, which is why they try so hard and are picky. But they can never live up to their own standards.

If somebody things they are perfect, then they have accepted things, rather than keep trying to do better. For a perfectionist, the saga never ends. They keep tinkering until they find something new to fuss over, or get exhausted.
