How to stop anxious and insecure thoughts from taking over your mind?

I will get so worked up, even to the point of a full blown anxiety attack over small things.

For example, today I went shopping, thinking I could transfer some money from another account. The problem is, I couldn't get a hold of my dad, who has the account details, to transfer the money. So I had no money and no way home from work. I had to walk. I FREAKED out. Looking back, it was silly, but it felt really bad then.

Also, I get really insecure in relationships over trivial things, like him hearting another girls post of something stupid like that.

Large parts of anxiety are about trying to control that which you can't control and expecting doom if you don't. It's OK to let go of the side of the pool sometimes. It doesn't mean that you'll sink like a stone.
@SW-User That's something a therapist talked over with me years ago. Whatever will happen, will happen regardless of how much or how less you panic about it. I sometimes even find that if I keep expecting something to happen, then it happens.

@lauriethecolourful It's very true. The only think untetheted panic will do is to make everything 100 times harder. Bombarding anxiety with logic is not futile. It can take time but eventually it starts to stick.
@SW-User I agree. I do it successfully sometimes. I find my logical side jumping in before the anxiety can run too far with an idea. But lately it's been difficult for me.

@fallenite I think a doctor would point me in the right direction, yeah? What exactly do they do? And how do they control anxiety?

I listen to music. It helps me block a lot of stuff out. So does reading
@Henal Music can be a lifesaver, but it can also make me sadder. It honestly depends on the day. Hahaha

@lauriethecolourful Yes that is very true haha. There's also mediation or seek out some breathing exercises. They sometimes help when there's a sudden anxiety attack

To me it sounds like you could stand to take steps to be more self sufficient and avoid situations like that in the future.

As for your issues with relationships I don't have any advice other than to take steps to make yourself feel more secure and independent as an adult. You're at a very awkward age.
@Doomflower Yeah, mid 20's is a very difficult time. Haha They say that you are most awkward a teen, but I find the 20's just as challenging.
The REASON I gave him the details was to be more self sufficient. It was to safe and to avoid me being able to dip into it.

As for relationships, so many people mess around these days. Especially people my age, so it's hard to trust fully. But I have expressed this with the guy I'm seeing and he is still sticking around. Surely if he was messing around, he would have run for the hills as soon as I brought it up, right?

@lauriethecolourful some guys will put up with a lot of crazy from a girl they find attractive.
@Doomflower Hahahaha. I see, but I'm not super attractive. Not enough to stick around after some of the things I brought up to him. I hope it's because he sees more potential in me.

I find being patient and calm with yourself can help. Every has their own way of dealing with things, just talk about it. You won’t find any judgement here.

I used to have bad anxiety, so much that I couldn't sleep. I think the only thing that worked was therapy and zoloft..now I feel a lot more confident

There are steps you can take to avoid those situations... Try to plan ahead to avoid them.. And attractiveness is always in some one else's eyes ;)

Once they come one has to observe them and don't deny them. Then try thinking in something else

Im sure that kind of thing has happened to most people, I lost my keys once and freaked out as well. You survived and thats all that matters 🤗
