As a hearing aid user ears got shot out in the war, I'd say hearing. Not everyone gets vertigo by going deaf.

@kentex35 Any other better reason ...?
Because one can still survive without hearing! But why balance is so important?

@AngelKrish hearing is one of five senses. A major human need. Without hearing you are technically blind to all things behind you. Even though hearing is credited with a strong influence on you balance and can cause a dizzying impairment you can be deaf and still be agile or athletic. I'm going to come back I want to look up something real quick brb

@kentex35 if i need to prove that balancing is most important for survival of every species then i need to go organism which are lower than humans! If i talk about snakes they can't hear even they have tympanum(ear hole)
So, they use ears for primative function i.e. balancing !

As humans are also originated from mammal like reptiles if we observe evolution! synapsids!

@AngelKrish I see your point. Even with bad hearing I still have balance. Thank God. I know of one guy that often has to shuffle sideways. And has been arrested for dui several times. While sober. His preacher goes down and stands up for him and brings him home.
My hearing loss is from being in the infantry. Work ead so bad I tried to re enlist but in the navy and that's when I found out..
Anyway I'm 50-50 on your answer. Good answer.
