Do you talk to your neighbours?

Just had a fire in the building and no one knocked my door. I usually say good morning but i refuse to chill with them or lend them money which they are known to ask for i guess that takes me out the "club"

I know one very well ... two others have just moved in and I don't really know them yet...two I say hello to and we wave at each other when we are passing by. Two others are standoffish and therefore we do not interact.

The neighborhood consists of ranch houses each on at least 1/3 of an acre so BIG lots. There is a large city "neighborhood" park across the street but the end I live on is just football fields so we don't get much of the rif-raf. Past the park is an elementary school so overall it is a really nice "hood" ... but there is a lot of turnover right now as the empty nesters have begun to sell their homes and downsize.

Me..I am staying put. It is so close to dozens of eateries and groceries so why leave.

Oh almost forgot... AND THERE IS NO HOMEOWNERS ASSN to deal with!!!

@Threepio AND THERE IS NO HOMEOWNERS ASSN to deal with!!! What does that mean?
@Peppa In many/most areas of the country there are subdivisions of homes. Those subdivisions have "elected ruling bodies" that are called Homeowners Associations (HOA's). Those HOA's can and often do control things like what color you can paint your home, if you can have a fence or not...what material that fence has to be made out of AND HUNDREDS of other little rules. The HOA's came about because the cities were tired of trying to settle minor disputes between homeowners because one homeowner thought the value of their home may be degraded because a neighbors grass is too high (an example). ALL newly built subdivisions automatically get an HOA here.

Ironically if you see NO HOMEOWNERS ASSN in a property listing …. it has actually become a selling point here.. as you know you won't have to buckle under to some egotistical moron who gets his/her kicks from measuring the height of your lawn using a pair of calipers...
