The last GOOD camping trip was to Mohawk Trail State Park in western Massachusetts. I used to love camping there, up on the embankment on the Cold River. There were two giant white pines, about 200 years old, and we could pitch the tent right between them. There is nothing like falling asleep to the sound of the river rushing over the rocks, and nothing like watching a campfire at night, knowing there are animals all around you.

@Stereoguy No. I haven't gone camping since the divorce. I am too chicken to go alone, and camping is not an interest for any of my friends. I did buy an air mattress that is supposed to fit over the back seat of your car, BUT....I still chickened out.

@Stereoguy There is a group but they go quite far afield for me...Appalachians and so on.
