Why do you think it is usually so hard for people to change their opinions on something?

I sometimes think that somehow subconsciously, we associate our opinions/values with our identity, and we feel like it's us being threatened, instead of our opinions, whenever someone disagrees with us, so we resist. We only read things that agree with, only subscribe to YouTube channels we agree with etc... and we perpetuate the idea that we are right.

What you think?
