The easiest solution to the whole toilet seat issue (in terms of total motions made) is just to leave it where it is when you finish doing your business and allow everyone else to do the same. The exception is, of course, when pets are involved.

Personally I always put the lid down when I've finished, and everyone else should do the same.

The toilet seat and lid should be put down before flushing... This is why the lid exists because if you do not use it then that is unhygienic... Your piss and shit is getting sprayed around your bathroom... You might not see it but it is there. Gross

It’s never bothered me either way. I always look even when there are no men in the house.
