I find it trivial and can’t believe the amount of people that think it’s one of the worse things that can happen. There are so many ways to abuse and betray someone. Cheating is like well I’m moving on but I don’t want to leave you type thing. The marriage at this point is rarely functional anymore and people get to thinking that maybe things will improve or they will leave but lots of times never do.

Then when it comes out people are like *gasp* “you cheated” like that’s all they care about. They don’t care that their partner was intimate with someone else. They don’t care about the right things. Hence the reason the marriage is over in the first place.

That does NOT make it okay! That's like saying it's okay to go around bitch-slapping random people because there are much worse things you could do to administer physical harm. Morality isn't about comparing what you're doing to the worst possible treatment; if anything, it's about comparing what you're doing to the best reasonable treatment.
