Maybe you should move to a different neighborhood.

@cherokeepatti yeah one where things are a lot closer to where i live but where , rent prices are higher everywhere and its hard to find small apartments too
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@FurryFace rents are high everywhere. Glad I got a house before they went up so high.

@cherokeepatti what about your propery taxes , i wondered about that if i ever bought a house
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@FurryFace Yeah that’s a factor, but at least it’’s not rent where the landlord is always making rules & fussing & the maintenance takes 3-4 weeks to fix anything. Rent went up about 2011 because of a new law that people without a social security number couldn’t get loans to buy homes so the illegals rent.

@cherokeepatti i watched stuff on youtube about Rent Runners , they go without paying rent for like 8 months at a time then just move somewhere else and do it all over again , crazy stuff
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@FurryFace They can make up so many excuses but here they’ll go file a forcible detainer on them if they don’t pay, they give them so many days to pay up or move. The deputy sheriff comes out and serves them the papers and on the date they are supposed to be out if they are not, the manager will have the sheriff’s dept go and evict them. I saw two young women sitting on the curb with a laundry basket full of clothes & stuff and one was crying. They told them to leave the property...so they had to carry the basket and start walking away.

@cherokeepatti sometimes the stuff gets tide up for months in court giving the people more time to stay there before they leave , another tactic of theirs , a real headache for the owner

@FurryFace And I knew a woman who would rent from individuals and make all kinds of excuses to delay payment, that couple was very irresponsible with money when they had it and let things go. They’d pack their crap up and move out in the middle of the night. She was living in a church house after making the church people feel sorry for her free rent at first and getting behind in rent later& the pastor of the church was sitting down with them teaching them how to manage their money with a budget. Eventually they left owing money to the church.

@cherokeepatti usually these people are pros at this , its their way of life , another thing was Squatters moving in and kicking out the owner , takes a while in court for the owners to prove its their property , shocking stuff really

@FurryFace this old guy I worked with retired and his wife died. He met a woman online and moved in with her, rent his house out here. His girlfriend started in on him about 6 months later and he came to Walmart where I was working then telling me about the people not paying rent for over 2 months and he wanted them to leave. I told him about filing the notice for a forcible detainer but he didn’t want to pay money and wait over a month. It was record-setting hot that summer like 100-110F. Every day scorching hot. He paid an a/c man to go the house and unhook the a/c system. They called him up & left a voice mail and he went 3 days later and they had evacuated the house so he moved back. I laughed when he told me what he did and told him I didn’t think he had that in him.

@cherokeepatti ha ha Genius

@FurryFace I would have never thought of that. But he was smart enough to know that nobody who had a/c could live without it. Walmart sold so many small window units that summer because so many whole house air conditioning units were overworked and burning out and many couldn’t afford to pay the money right then to have them replaced. So they’d buy a cheap a/c window unit or two and use them till they got the money saved up. One in the bedroom and one in the living room window. One man came in and bought the smallest a/c they sold and told me he was a Boy Scout troop-master and was taking the Boy Scouts camping and he was too old to put up with the heat at night and he was going to a/c his tent...haha. If he had a hookup close enough to where his tent was.
