Is it unusual for a man and a woman to go out to eat or to the movies just as friends?

Mindful · 56-60, F
Men see women as a tool...
I really wish I could have guy friends that weren’t desperately hoping to score at the end — and I am HAPPY to pay my own way. I don’t t use friends For their money. But I also don’t want to be used for my money.

That’s really reasonable sounding to me! @LongDistanceRecon636

Nah that's fine.

No, I don't think so...men and women can just be friends and company to one another without any romantic or sexual strings attached.

I have ,and the bs about one is gay posted below ,,a kid

When you have lots of unmarried female friend
Occasionally one asks would you like to go to a movie ,a concert or out to eat

I like to pay ,I enjoy the company
Just like them ,things are not as fun when you have no one to share it with ,

So a good friend is much better then alone
And she knows your not expecting anything afterwards
You could have done that and by passed the night out .
and that lets her enjoy the time out that much more

Everything is cool until you want her to pay for herself.

Then all hell breaks loose.
@Eternity The funny thing is, even with male platonic friends my age I have to insist on paying.

No more unusual than going out with a sibling or relative

@DarlingSelah I went to the movies with this girl while I was in high school and we went just as friends, I offered to pay for her ticket but she insisted to pay for her own. Guess I got lucky there lol.

It is unusual for me and I can't say it doesn't make me feel awkward unless it's my gay friend. I always prefer to go out with at least two men. It makes atmosphere much lighter and conversations less clumsy.

@ImRileyTheDog a lot of guys mocked me in high school because this girl and I went to the movies just as friends, they mocked me for not trying to "hit it".
Maybe it’s because I’m a dyke but I do this with my guy friends. I do this with female friends as well, sometimes it’s a groups event with both. Friends tend to hang out, it’s not unusual lol

Being married , I can’t do that ... nor would I want to . I like going by myself ... to an early matinee on Saturdays

depends, if both are committed to other people, then may be ok.
Only if one of them is gay
Not really. I’ve done so several times.

I don't think it is. I have always done this.
