It's there a proper way to answer a door?

I just open up the door like they do in movies, and my Aunt says I need to ask who it is first.

Asking who it is first or looking through the window or peephole is the safe way to do it, but you don't HAVE to.

If you live in a reasonably safe neighborhood, and/or have a peep hole, you’re probably fine as is, but attempting to establish identity of an unexpected visitor is a good practice.

My buddy, who weighed about 290 and was covered in thick body hair, would answer the door for Witnesses wearing his (almost comically smaller) fiancé’s thong and spaghetti strap top.

Apparently it was effective at curbing visits 🤷‍♂️@Teggy
