Ladies, has your mom's tried to get you to be more girly?

I was a tomboy growing up. I loved climbing trees, getting dirty, playing sports and I just loved wearing jackets, beanie hates and sneakers and pants. Sometimes I dress girly but not too often. My mom was after me for dressing too "tomboyish" so she said to me one time, "You know it wouldn't kill you to act like a girl for one day. You were born a girl. BE A GIRL." I told her, "Just because I'm a girl doesn't mean I have to be girly. Not every girl is girly." She told me to quit a taking back to her. We had fights about it. Occasionally I would wear dresses, curl my hair on semi formal events. I'm still a tomboy but dress more of a woman. Not a huge fan of dresses. As a kid if I wear a dress, I wear sneakers with them.
